Growing up Iranian-American, real lavashak was never something you could just buy. The stuff on US shelves was a pale imitation — wrong color, wrong texture, wrong sourness. If you wanted authentic lavashak, you waited for someone to bring it back from overseas.

I taught myself to make lavashak as a teenager. At some point it clicked: there was no US-based company actually producing handmade lavashak the right way. So I decided to start one.

The name comes from Darband — the mountain trail outside Tehran lined with vendors selling sour, intensely fruity lavashak out of trays. If you know, you know. That's the standard we're chasing.

Darband Lavashak Co. was founded in 2023 and ships authentic Persian lavashak across the United States from Austin, Texas. Every batch is handcrafted by hand in small quantities with real fruit — no shortcuts, no co-packers, no scaling for the sake of it.
