Collection: Lavashak - the time honored Persian treat

What is Lavashak?

Lavashak is an ancient version of a fruit roll up made from pureed fruits, typically plums, apricots, or pomegranates. It is dried into a chewy, flavorful treat that is primarily made in West Asia. The delicious taste of Lavashak often reminds people from this part of the world of their childhood, as it is a common delicacy found in street food markets and local stores. This tasty fruit leather is not only enjoyable but also packed with nutrients, making it a healthy alternative to candies.

The Traditional Production Process

To make Lavashak traditionally, ripe fruits are washed, pitted, boiled to a simmer, and then blended to form a puree. Then, this puree is spread evenly on a flat surface and dried in the sun. This process can take several days to ensure that the Lavashak becomes chewy but still holds its flavor. The result is a deliciously tangy snack that can be enjoyed at any time! Because of the simplicity of its ingredients, it can be enjoyed without sweating about consuming something artificial and ultra processed.

The Darband Lavashak Co. Production Process

At Darband Lavashak Co., we manufacture lavashak that is true to the traditional recipe using only the highest quality fruit.  Our products are made without the use of artificial fruit syrups, cheap utility grade filler fruits to lower the manufacturing costs, and added sugars. Instead of sun-drying our product, we dehydrate them to a temperature that is low enough to preserve the flavor but high enough to avoid spoilage. The end result is a truly craft-tier authentic lavashak that is delicious, nutritional, and nostalgic.
